District Population Welfare Office Upper Chitral is mainly responsible for the implementation of population welfare activities in the field and provision of reproductive health services including family planning to the population of the district through service delivery outlets. These Service Delivery Outlets include RHSC-A, Mobile Service Units and Family Welfare Centers. District office also act as a hub for coordination, and sharing of information with other stakeholders working in the district for the same cause. These stakeholders include the Registered Medical Practitioners, Target Group Institutions, Homoeopaths, Hakeems, and NGOs.
The main functions of this office is monitoring and supervision including technical and non-technical (administrative) aspects of staff and service delivery outlets to ensure quality reproductive health services to the clients. Further, it deal with the timely requisition of contraceptives from Central Warehouse and provision of sufficient supply to the Service Delivery Outlets; arrangements for contraceptive surgery and mobile camps; arrangements and facilitation for on job training of the field staff; launching of awareness-raising campaign activities regarding hazards of overpopulation and benefits of proper spacing between births of children. The District Office collect performance reports from the field, compile them and subsequently transmit them to the provincial office.
