The District Education Office (Male) Upper Chitral is responsible for overseeing and managing the education system in the region. Our office strives to provide quality education and ensure the overall development of students within our jurisdiction.
Under our jurisdiction, there are a total of 249 schools catering to the educational needs of the district Upper Chitral. With a diverse range of schools, including higher secondary, high, middle, primary and mosque schools, we ensure that every child has access to appropriate education at their respective levels. We take pride in serving approximately 24,000 students who are enrolled in our schools.
In the education sector, significant progress has been made with the upgrading of schools on a double shift basis. Out of the 29 schools that have undergone this transformation, 16 high schools have been upgraded to higher secondary level, 5 middle schools have been elevated to high school status, and 8 primary schools have been advanced to the middle school level.
The KPK government is offering full scholarships to exceptionally talented students studying in government schools from kindergarten to 7th grade. To identify eligible candidates, the ETEA (Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency) test will be conducted across the province every year. Successful students will be granted admission to renowned institutions in KPK. The scholarship will cover all educational expenses, including tuition fees, accommodation, food, books, and also provide a stipend for personal expenses from 7th grade until 12th grade. In District Upper Chitral, an average of 5 to 7 students qualify for this prestigious scholarship annually.
The government has implemented a stipend program specifically designed for female students attending government schools. This program aims to support and empower girls in their educational journey. Female students enrolled in government schools are eligible to receive financial assistance to cover various expenses, including tuition fees, books, uniforms, and other educational needs. The stipend program not only encourages girls to pursue their education but also addresses financial barriers that may hinder their access to quality schooling. By providing this support, the government aims to create equal opportunities for girls, ensuring they receive the education they deserve to thrive and contribute to society.
The government is committed to ensuring access to education for all students, particularly those studying in government schools. As part of this initiative, free textbooks are provided to students enrolled in government schools. This program aims to alleviate the financial burden on families and promote equal opportunities for education. By providing textbooks free of charge, the government enables students to access the necessary learning materials without any additional costs. This ensures that students have the resources they need to succeed academically and enhances their learning experience. The provision of free textbooks not only facilitates the learning process but also promotes equitable education for all students, regardless of their economic background.
